Pakistani prime minister in China for five-day visit

Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is on a five-day official visit to China.

This is Sharif’s first visit since the inauguration of the new Pakistani government this year.

Chinese President Xi Jinping will hold meetings with the Pakistani prime minister.

Both sides are expected to exchange views on bilateral relations and issues of common concern and make plans for the future development of China-Pakistan relations.

China congratulates India's National Democratic Alliance on election win

China has congratulated Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi following his election win.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning said sound and stable China-India relations serve the common interests of both sides, which are conducive to peace and development of the region and the world at large.

The spokesperson also said China is ready to work with India to steer the development of bilateral relations on a healthy and stable track.

India's ruling National Democratic Alliance led by Prime Minister Modi's BJP party secured a majority of the seats in the lower house of Parliament, winning the 2024 Indian general election.

Wang Yi meets Venezuelan foreign minister

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has reaffirmed the country's commitment to deepening cooperation with Venezuela no matter how the global situation changes.

While meeting Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil in Beijing, Wang said China is willing to work with Venezuela to expand bilateral trade and explore more fields for cooperation.

He added that China supports Venezuela’s efforts to safeguard sovereignty and its development path suited to its national conditions.

Chinese commerce minister meets Portuguese economy minister

Chinese and Portuguese officials have discussed advancing bilateral economic and trade relations.

Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao held talks with Portuguese Economy Minister Pedro Reis in Lisbon.

Wang called for joint efforts to implement the outcomes of the 6th Ministerial Conference of the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.

He called for equal discussions with the EU about economic and trade concerns and advocated fair competition based on cooperation to improve Sino-European economic and trade relations.

Reis echoed Wang's opinions, saying expanding cooperation and promoting fair competition help counter trade protectionism.

St. Petersburg International Economic Forum kicks off

The 27th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is underway in Russia's second-largest city.

Representatives from more than 130 countries and regions are attending the forum.

DJI makes world's first successful drone delivery tests on Mount Qomolangma

Chinese drone maker DJI has successfully completed the first-ever drone delivery tests on Mount Qomolangma, also known as Everest, from the Nepali side.

The company says the tests pave the way for facilitating high-altitude mountaineering, emergency rescue and environmental protection operations.

The tests in April involved the transportation of three oxygen bottles and 1.5 kilograms of other supplies.
