值此2021中关村论坛开幕之际，我谨表示热烈的祝获，向各方嘉宾表示诚挚的欢迎。

As the 2021 ZGC Forum opens, I send my warm congratulations to the Forum and a hearty welcome to all participating guests.

当前，世界百年未有之大变局加速演进，新冠肺炎疫情影响广泛深远，世界经济复苏面临严峻挑战，世界各国更加需要加强科技开放合作，通过科技创新共同探索解决重要全球性问题的途径和方法，共同应对时代挑战，共同促进人类和平与发展的崇高事业。

The world today is fast-evolving with many significant changes unseen in a century. The COVID-19 pandemic has produced far-reaching impact and the world economic recovery faces stern challenges. Now more than ever, there is a need for countries to intensify open cooperation and innovation in science and technology and work together to explore pathways and solutions to important global issues, meet the challenges of our times and advance humanity’s lofty cause of peace and development.

科学技术是人类伟大创造性活动，创新是引领发展的第一动力。当今世界，发展科学技术必须具有全球视野，把握时代脉搏，紧扣人类生产生活提出的新要求。中国高度重视科技创新，致力于推动全球科技创新协作，将以更加开放的态度加强国际科技交流，积极参与全球创新网络，共同推进基础研究，推动科技成果转化，培育经济发展新动能，加强知识产权保护，营造一流创新生态，塑造科技向善理念，完善全球科技治理，更好增进人类福祉。

Science and technology are great creative activities of mankind, and innovation is the primary force in spearheading development. In the world today, to advance science and technology, we must embrace a global vision, grasp the trend of the times, and respond to the latest demands arising from human life and production.

China sets great store by science, technology and innovation, and is committed to enhancing global collaboration on this front. We’ll strengthen relevant international exchanges with an even more open mind, actively engage in global innovation networks, and join in the global efforts to advance basic research, promote the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements, and foster new drivers of economic development. We’ll step up intellectual property protection, create a first-rate environment for innovation, advocate the idea of “Tech for Good” and improve global governance in science and technology, with a view to enhancing the well-being of the entire humanities.

中关村是中国第一个国家自主创新示范区，中关村论坛是面向全球科技创新交流合作的国家级平台。中国支持中关村开展新一轮先行先试改革，加快建设世界领先的科技园区，为促进全球科技创新交流合作作出新的贡献。

Zhongguancun is China’s first national independent innovation demonstration zone, and the ZGC Forum is a state-level platform geared toward global exchanges and cooperation in the field of science, technology and innovation. We support Zhongguancun in piloting a new round of reform, developing into a world-leading sci-tech park at a faster pace, and making new contributions to global exchanges and cooperation in science and technology.

希望与会嘉宾深入交流、集思广益，为推动全球科技创新合作、推动构建人类命运共同体提出真知灼见。

I encourage all of you to engage in an in-depth exchange of views to inspire each other and to come up with valuable recommendations for promoting global cooperation on science, technology and innovation, and for the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
